Urubamba Peru

Urubamba, also known as Urupampa, is a quaint town in Peru, situated near the Urubamba River beneath the snow-covered Ch'iqun mountain. It is an hour's drive from Cusco and is the largest town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The town is also in close proximity to several significant ruins of the Inca Empire, including Machu Picchu. The Chichubamba community provides a unique insight into the traditional Andean lifestyle that has been preserved since before the Incan Empire. The agrotour in Chichubamba is a joint initiative between the residents of Chichubamba and ProPeru, a local non-governmental organization.
