Nafplio is a small town in the Peloponnese. It is often also referred to as Nauplio, Nauplia, or Nafplia. With its charming, romantic downtown and cozy streets, it’s a wonderful place to stay while exploring the Peloponnese region. Nafplio was briefly the capital of Greece before the capital was moved to Athens. The city is rich in history, with Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman influences, and it played an important role in the Greek Revolution. Its beautiful center features small neoclassical houses, squares, and churches. At first glance, Nafplio looks like an Italian city, thanks to its architecture and colorful houses. Things to see: - Landmark buildings - Museums - Cultural centers - The castles Enjoy the sea: Very close to town, just south of Palamidi Castle hill, is a quiet sandy beach where locals gather to swim and relax. This beach is known for its clean, blue-flag waters. Even further south, accessible by local bus or car, you’ll find a series of stunning beaches that are especially popular in the summer. Daily Cruises in the Argolic Gulf: If you have time, you can take a cruise in the Argolic Gulf, where you’ll enjoy the sea and the coastal sights of the area, including a stop for swimming! Boats to Bourtzi depart from the promenade, usually once a day during the summer.
