Tacna Peru

Tacna is a city in southern Peru and the regional capital of the Tacna Region. A very commercially active city, it is located just north of the border with Chile’s Arica y Parinacota Region, inland from the Pacific Ocean in the valley of the Caplina River. It is Peru’s tenth most populous city. The city is home to many monuments, including the Alto de la Alianza Arch. Other notable landmarks include a neo-Renaissance cathedral, the Courthouse, the Alameda Bolognesi promenade, and the Toquepala caves, where archaeologists have discovered some of the oldest human remains in Peru.
