Day 1

Airport – Chilaw – Dambulla

Welcome to Sri Lanka, the legendary island closely associated with the Ramayana. Your journey begins with visits to two of the most sacred Ramayana temples before continuing to the Cultural Triangle. End the day by exploring the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Munneswaram Temple – Chilaw
One of the most important Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka. According to the Ramayana, after defeating King Ravana, Lord Rama prayed here to Lord Shiva to seek forgiveness for the sin of killing a Brahmin king. The temple remains one of Sri Lanka's oldest and most revered Hindu shrines.
Manavari Temple
Located a short distance from Munneswaram, this sacred temple is believed to be where Lord Rama installed the first Shiva Lingam after the war with Ravana. It is regarded as the very first Rama Lingam established by Lord Rama and is an important pilgrimage destination for devotees.
Dambulla Cave Temple
A UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring five ancient cave temples adorned with remarkable Buddhist murals and over 150 Buddha statues. The temple showcases Sri Lanka's rich religious heritage and offers spectacular panoramic views.

Dambulla – Trincomalee – Dambulla

Shankari Devi Temple
Located within the Koneshwaram Temple complex, Shankari Devi is considered one of the eighteen revered Shakti Peethas. According to Hindu tradition, this sacred shrine commemorates the place where a part of Goddess Sati fell, making it one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Hinduism.
Kanniya Hot Springs
These seven natural hot water wells are traditionally believed to have been created by King Ravana, who struck the ground with his sword while performing rituals for his mother. Each spring has a slightly different temperature and remains an important Ramayana-related attraction.

Dambulla – Nuwara Eliya

Seetha Amman Temple
One of the most sacred Ramayana sites in Sri Lanka. It is believed that Princess Sita was held captive nearby while King Ravana attempted to persuade her to become his queen. Footprints believed by devotees to belong to Lord Hanuman can be seen on the surrounding rocks.
Hakgala Botanical Garden (Ashok Vatika)
Believed to be the legendary Ashok Vatika, where Princess Sita spent much of her captivity under the protection of King Ravana. Today, the botanical garden is renowned for its beautiful flowers, towering trees, and diverse plant collections.
Divurumpola Temple
According to the Ramayana, this is the place where Princess Sita underwent the Agni Pariksha (Trial by Fire) to prove her purity after being rescued by Lord Rama. The temple continues to symbolize truth, faith, and justice.

Nuwara Eliya – Waskaduwa
